How to Service Salvage Tow (P) Job Volume
What is a Salvage Tow? Jobs requesting delivery of vehicles directly to salvage yards.
What is a Salvage Tow (P) job? Marked with “(P)” for “Priority,” these jobs require a 30-minute or less ETA to be paid at your priority rate, similar to Accident Tow (P).
Key Factors on both:
- Streamlined Process - No Wait Time: No more standing in check-in lines!
⭐ All instructions and gate codes are supplied upfront within the job details, making day or night drop-offs a breeze.- It is critical to always lock up gates when you leave after hour drop offs and NEVER share gate codes or hold gates open for others. Anyone with granted permission to drop vehicles after hours will have a gate code to access the premises.
- Leaving the gate unlocked or allowing unauthorized people to access any gated area poses extreme liability to every vehicle on the lot.
- Productivity for Long Distances: For drop-offs more than 50 miles away, you can keep your night team productive by allowing them to deliver the vehicle anytime before noon the following day.
Best Practices:
- Keys must be delivered with the vehicle; to ensure a smooth process, please zip tie keys to the wheel or leave them in the glovebox (include a picture of where the key is).
- If a vehicle has been badly damaged, ensure it is delivered with all its parts (e.g., if the bumper falls off, keep it with the vehicle).
- Ensure vehicles are turned off upon drop off.
- Photos following our guidelines must be included both before and after service/drop off.
- If possible, it is helpful to write the stock lot number on the windshield with a grease pen to help expedite check-in. This is not required.
Understanding Billing:
- Priority Designation (P): The "(P)" marker indicates a Priority request. These jobs are eligible for a higher payout rate, mirroring the structure of Accident Tow (P) jobs.
- The 30-Minute ETA Rule:
- Priority Rate Eligibility: To secure the higher priority rate, providers must provide and meet a pickup ETA of 30 minutes or less.
- Rate Reversion: If a provider accepts a Salvage Tow (P) request but provides an ETA exceeding 30 minutes, the job automatically reverts to standard light-duty or Salvage Towing rates.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is the difference between a Salvage Tow and a Salvage Tow (P) job?
The "(P)" designation stands for "Priority". A Salvage Tow (P) requires a pickup with a 30-minute or less ETA. When this ETA is met, the job is paid at a higher priority rate, similar to Accident Tow (P) jobs.
What happens if I cannot meet the 30-minute ETA for a Priority job?
If an ETA exceeding 30 minutes is accepted for a Salvage Tow (P) request, the service will be billed at standard salvage towing rates instead of the priority rate.
Are there specific hours for dropping off vehicles at salvage yards?
One of the primary benefits of this service is the streamlined drop-off process with no wait times or check-in lines. Gate codes and specific instructions are provided upfront in the job details, allowing for drop-offs at any time, day or night.
Is there flexibility for long-distance tows?
Yes. For any drop-off located more than 50 miles away, you have the flexibility to deliver the vehicle anytime before noon the following day. Under 50 no flex
Where should I leave the vehicle keys?
To ensure the salvage yard can process the vehicle efficiently, keys must be delivered with the vehicle and should be zip tied to the wheel or placed inside the glovebox.
How should I handle vehicle parts that have detached during an accident?
It is important that the vehicle is delivered with all its parts. For example, if a bumper has fallen off, it must be kept with the vehicle and included in the drop-off.
What are the photo documentation requirements?
Providers must take and include photos both before and after the service or drop-off. These photos must strictly follow the established photo guidelines.
How do I start receiving these jobs if I am not currently an Accident Management (AM) provider?
If you do not currently offer AM services, you can contact the Provider Advocate Group (PAG) to opt-in and establish a rate agreement. Once your account is set up for AM volume, you will begin receiving Salvage Tow requests.
What should I do if the car is full of personal items?
Leave this for the Salvage yard to take care of. Service Providers are not responsible for, and should refrain from, handling customer personal items.
